It's safe enough to be used for organic growing, and we have seen excellent results. If you have problems with budworms (blooms and buds getting chewed away) we recommend Captain Jack's Deadbug Brew. Supercal cultivars are very early flowering and heat tolerant with awesome flower power! Taking the large flowers and less ph-sensitivity of petunias (which causes calibrachoas to turn yellow in regular topsoil) and the flower power of calibrachoas, the SuperCals provide amazing color throughout the summer and fall. A cross between a Petunia and Calibrachoa, the Petchoa 'Supercal' series combines the best characteristics of each. Petchoa petunia x calibrachoa 'SuperCal Velvet' has luxurious magenta-purple flowers. All are excellent performers, easy to grow, and well suited to our area. Splendid in hanging baskets and containers. Perfect for baskets and containers, Supercal Premium Sunset Orange will add beautiful color wherever it is needed. Enlivens the garden with profuse blooms that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Vigorous, lush foliage, dependable displays and beautiful free-flowering color. Petchoa 'SuperCal Premium Cinnamon' combines the best of petunia and calibrachoa. ![]() Note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden.These are our very favorite plants! Our staff members are avid plant lovers and these are the best of the best in our own landscaping. Because of its trailing habit of growth, it is ideally suited for use as a 'spiller' in the 'spiller-thriller-filler' container combination plant it near the edges where it can spill gracefully over the pot. SuperCal® Blue Petchoa is a fine choice for the garden, but it is also a good selection for planting in outdoor containers and hanging baskets. It can be propagated by cuttings however, as a cultivated variety, be aware that it may be subject to certain restrictions or prohibitions on propagation. This particular variety is an interspecific hybrid. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. This plant should only be grown in full sunlight. The best characteristics of petunias and calibrachoas, in one exceptional plant. Early-flowering varieties can be grown cool for cost-efficient production. This fast-growing annual will normally live for one full growing season, needing replacement the following year. Unique, vibrant colors, large blooms and high pH tolerance. Its foliage tends to remain dense right to the ground, not requiring facer plants in front. When grown in masses or used as a bedding plant, individual plants should be spaced approximately 15 inches apart. SuperCal® Blue Petchoa will grow to be about 12 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 18 inches. Mass Planting, Border Edging, General Garden Use, Container Planting, Hanging Baskets SuperCal® Blue Petchoa is recommended for the following landscape applications It has no significant negative characteristics. It is a good choice for attracting hummingbirds to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. Trim off the flower heads after they fade and die to encourage more blooms late into the season. This plant will require occasional maintenance and upkeep. Its medium texture blends into the garden, but can always be balanced by a couple of finer or coarser plants for an effective composition. These Petchoa are so fantastic with their flowers larger than a Calibration but smaller than a regular petunia. SuperCal® Blue Petchoa is a dense herbaceous annual with a trailing habit of growth, eventually spilling over the edges of hanging baskets and containers. The colors swirling in this flower are so entertaining and change with each flower. The fruit is not ornamentally significant. Its pointy leaves remain green in color throughout the season. SuperCal® Blue Petchoa is blanketed in stunning royal blue trumpet-shaped flowers at the ends of the stems from mid spring to late summer. ![]()
